YouTube Dancing

Last evening while watching the memorial for Ford, the boyfriend was playing on the laptop looking at old music videos on YouTube and dancing. I decided to catch some of it on video.

Wine and Cheese

After picking the boyfriend up from the airport and unpacking and going through mail, we sat down for some wine and cheese. I used the iSight on the laptop to record a little movie.

He Comes Home Today

The boyfriend has been in Louisana for the last week enjoying the holidays with his family. He comes home today! I've missed him terribly of course and can't wait to see him. I pick him up from the airport at 2:15 and we'll spend the weekend together at his place. If you call me, Homer, I won't be home. hehehe

First Choice

I know it's very early in this whole thing but I was very pleased to hear yesterday that John Edwards has entered the race for the Democratic nomination for president. The last time he ran I was a big fan of his when Howard Dean dropped out. I don't think Obama or Hillary have a chance even though I do like them.

I do think John Edwards might have a chance. However, he has been out of the spotlight for awhile and he was a senator and we know that senators haven't won the whitehouse since the 60's I think. Anyway, I was pleased to hear he has decided to run. This time I don't want him to settle for vp.

So right now I'm considering him my first choice. But others might join the race that I like more. It's just way too early to think of these things. I'm just glad he's back in the race and getting his name out ther again. I hope Obama and Hillary don't suck up all the air in the process.

Christmas 2006

Christmas Cookies

Last week I made a bunch of Christmas cookies. I put them in a holiday container and set them on top of the fridge. I haven't had many of them since then but today I went nuts. In between coats of paint on the crown moulding, I sat down to watch some Christmas movies and munched on these cookies. They are soooo good!

The crown moulding is done and most of the cookies are gone. And a couple more Christmas movies have been watched. Today I watched:

Going My Way
Holiday Inn
It's A Wonderful Life
A Christmas Story

I think now I'm ready for the holiday to be over and to have the boyfriend home again.

Scary Spider

While the boyfriend is away (and I'm missing him and keeping myself busy) I like to take advantage of the time and get things done that I normally don't have time to do. I got a lot done today.

Recently I had crown moulding installed but didn't have them paint it. So I spent most of the day filling the nail holes, sanding, and caulking the crown moulding. I'm planning on painting it tomorrow. While letting the nail holes dry, I went through all my files and purged all the old papers. I spent a few hours shredding all the old papers so no one will steal my identity. While doing all this I watched Christmas In Connecticut and Meet Me In St. Louis...two of my favorite holiday movies. I'm going to watch more tomorrow while painting. I like watching Christmas movies on Christmas Eve even if I don't really celebrate Christmas.

At the end of a busy day I came into my computer room to check mail and phone messages (sorry I missed your call, Homer!) and what do I see on the baseboard? A HUGE spider! Damn this thing was HUGE. As you can see from the photo, the spider was as big as the baseboard. The baseboard is probably 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall. The spider almost spanned the baseboard. This was not a spider I could kill with a tissue. I had to get the broom out and smash the thing against the wall. I had some cleaning up to do afterwards. I'm always such a chicken. I was afraid the thing was going to jump at me once I jammed the broom into him. Luckily he died pretty quickly and didn't attack. Now I know I'll have spider dreams tonight. Ugh!

More Gift Cards

I got some more gift cards today.

$25 American Express Card
$25 Visa Card
$25 Micro Center Card
$50 Apple Card

With all these cards I made some decisions today. I took all the Apple Gift Cards and ordered a Canon Elura 100 camcorder. This one has a built in mic jack as well as a built in light that I can use anytime. After the Apple cards were applied, I only had to pay 59 bucks for the camcorder. Very cool. I know my current video camera is only about a year old but it doesn't have the features I really want and while I had the gift cards I thought it'd be a good time to upgrade. Another cool feature is that it records in wide screen. I'm not sure how I'd use that feature but I'll play with it when I get it and figure it out.

Almost all the other cards will be used for a gift for the boyfriend. I won't say what I'll get him (because he reads the blog) but his birthday is coming up next month and I know what he wants. Maybe I can do some shopping next week while he's gone. My holiday break has begun and I'm off until January 2nd. I really need the time off.

The boyfriend arrived safely in New Orleans this evening. I'm glad he got there okay. I'm already missing him but know he's enjoying visiting with his family.

Gift Cards

Gift cards are big again this year as presents. I got a slew of them this week from my students. I'm not sure what I'll buy with them but I wish they were all from the same place like the Apple store. That would have been nice. However, there really aren't any Apple products I need right now. I have a new computer, a new iPod, and a relatively new MacBook. I guess I don't need any new computers. I might be thinking about a new video camera. If I get a new one it has to have a light that I can control and a mic jack for improving the audio. I'm just not sure. I have to think on it awhile. Here are the gift cards I've gotten so far this year.

$250 Apple Gift Card
$50 iTunes Gift Card
$40 Sears Gift Card
$25 Visa Gift Card
$15 Starbucks Card

What to buy, what to buy. Maybe something for the boyfriend? Suggestions?

Opening Gifts

The boyfriend came over for a rare during the week visit. I made dinner for him and he was able to open the gifts I got him for Christmas. We had a wonderful time and I must say my dinner was delicious. It was so easy cooking the meal in my new kitchen. Notice the new dishes the boyfriend gave me in the picture. The boyfriend is leaving on Friday for New Orleans and will be away for a week. I'll miss him terribly but look forward to his return. Here are a few photos from our evening last night.

2 Years

Two years ago today I met the boyfriend. He came over at that time to pose for my nude photography. You can find his photos in the photography section of my site. We didn't start dating at that time so this isn't our anniversary but it is an anniversary in a way. We did meet and got to know each other very well and things went from there. My life has changed for the better since knowing the boyfriend. I'm so glad he's in my life. Think of all the experiences I wouldn't have had if I hadn't of met him. I love you, honey!

Here's the boyfriend last Saturday night.

Wrapping Gifts

I spent the evening wrapping the boyfriend's presents. I was completely in the holiday mood. I decided to watch one of the holiday movies I recorded on the DVR. There are several on there to watch but I decided to watch The Bishop's Wife. What a great movie. In some respects it would be wonderful to return to that time. Things were simpler then. It was made in 1947 and was full of hope. They don't make movies like that anymore. I did some searching on the internet and found this trailer...if you can call it a trailer. By the end of the movie the gifts were all wrapped. I hope the boyfriend likes them!

The boyfriend is coming over for a rare week night visit. He's coming over because he'll be out of town for the holiday and we won't see each other. I'm making him dinner and having him open his presents. I'm sure we'll have a nice evening.

Christmas Gifts 2006

Thinking

Temperature Change

What happened to winter? We had a cold spell there for awhile and it was beginning to feel like winter and the holiday season but this week it seems like we've returned to spring. High 50s and low 60s are not winter temperatures. These temperatures also don't add to the holiday feeling.

Christmas TV Shows

Seems like ABC has decided to bring back all the popluar Christmas shows from my childhood. Tonight "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" was on and I watched it of course. It brought back so many memories of being a kid and sitting in the "rec room" with the rest of the family with our eyes glued to the tube. Ah, such memories.

I've already seen "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and I'm sure "Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer" will be on soon with "Frosty The Snowman" soon behind. These are just the shows from my childhood. What I really enjoy watching as an adult are the Christmas movies that have begun playing on TCM. I'm sure in the weeks to come I'll be spending lots of time watching my favorites.

Christmas Checklist

With less than two weeks before Christmas, I'm not sure I'm going to get everything done. I did finally finish my Christmas cards tonight. But I still have a few gifts to get and I haven't wrapped any of them. The Christmas tree is up and decorated. I have a few other decorations spread around for good cheer. I have a poinsettie on the coffee table too. I don't usually do any cooking or baking for the holidays but thought I'd attempt to bake some cookies in my new oven. We'll see if I get to that. I have plenty of Christmas music playing around the house and in the car. I guess I have got a good start on all this but it seems like there is so much to do at this time of the year. I'm definitely in the Christmas mood but I need to find time to do all the things I want to do.

Pants or Shoes First

Last night the boyfriend and I went to a cocktail party at a winery. We got all dressed up. We had a very nice time and met some nice people. Here we are before we left. We clean up well I think.

When you get home from a party or event, do you take your pants off first or your shoes? The boyfriend has decided it's easier to take his pants off over his shoes. I think that's difficult. Especially if you are wearing boots. Which do you do first?

Morning Dance

The boyfriend is obsessed with Diana Ross. Just seconds before this picture was taken he was watching a Supremes video on YouTube and dancing around in the chair. He's so funny but I just don't get the obsession with Diana Ross. You gotta love him.

Decorating My Tree

Tonight the boyfriend and I decorated my tree. Before he got here I set up the tree and put on the lights. Then we spent a few hours taking our time to put lots of ornaments on the tree. We took a break at one point to have some dinner. I went to the Honey Baked Ham store and got us a quarter ham and some scalloped potatoes and dinner rolls. We had a nice rose` wine with dinner. Then we finished the tree. Once it was done we sat on the couch snuggling and watching the tree as we listened to christmas music. We had a nice evening. Here you see me putting an ornament on my tree. I should have been smiling more, I know.

Holiday Cards

The holiday cards have started to arrive. I've gotten 5 cards in the last 3 days. I know I need to get on it and get mine in the mail. I got all my boxes out of storage because I thought my cards were in the boxes. I found that I didn't have any Christmas cards. So on my way home from work on Tuesday I picked up some decent Christmas cards. I also stopped at the post office and got some really nice snowflake stamps. Now all I need to do is sit down and write out the cards.

Of course I need to find time to sit down and do it. I don't think I'll write any notes in most of them. Most of the cards will be going to my brothers and sisters and cousins, etc. I stay in touch enough with most of them to know what's going on so I won't need to write any messages in them. That will save some time. If you have gotten a Christmas card from me in the past, hang in there, they will be arriving soon.

Countertops Complete

The countertop people came today and finished the countertop in the kitchen. They removed the old back splash and installed the new back splash and side splashes. As far as I'm concerned the kitchen is complete. My kitchen designer left me a message saying the cabinet people were coming in to replace the glides on one of the drawers that squeaks a little. That doesn't concern me all that much but I'm glad she's doing it. I don't know when that will take place but I've moved everything back in the kitchen and my place is back to normal. I'm using the kitchen like usual now. I think I've mentioned it before though, I think I'm going to repaint the kitchen with yellow but that won't be for awhile...maybe Christmas break.

The Boyfriend Is Sick

I got a voicemail message from the boyfriend when I got home from work today. The boyfriend told me he wasn't feeling well and hadn't gone to work today. I felt so bad for him. I called him back and we chatted and he told me he has some kind of stomach virus. He spent most of the day in bed. The poor thing. I felt so bad for him. I asked if there was anything I could do and he said it was just nice to hear my voice.

I wish I could make him feel better. I know he'll be over it in a few days but I don't like it when someone I care for isn't feeling well. He's coming to my place this weekend. I know by then he'll be feeling better but I'll do my best to treat him extra special this weekend. Stay in bed and get better! I hope you get better soon, honey!

Dusk

I was on the balcony when the moon was rising and thought it looked amazing. The natural gradation of colors in the sky looked beautiful. I know the picture doesn't quite capture the beauty but I had to record the moment as best I could. I think it looks lovely.

Putting Up His Tree

It's that time of the year again. The boyfriend and I went out and bought his Christmas tree Friday night. Of course when we went to the tree lot it was 75 degrees and I was wearing shorts so it didn't feel much like Christmas.

We picked out a beautiful tree. At the lot it didn't look as big as it does now that it's been decorated. It looks much wider. We spent the evening putting on the lights, and the tons of ornaments the boyfriend has. We enjoyed some fine wine and had nibbles. Of course we played Christmas music the whole time. As the evening went on a cold front moved through our area and the temperature dropped about 30 degrees. It's now beginning to feel like winter.

I took a few pictures while we were setting up the tree. As you can see the boyfriend was silly at times. This makes the second year that we've bought his tree and decorated it together. I think we've begun our own holiday tradition. Next week the tradition will continue. We'll be decorating my tree.
